Frequently Asked Questions
Therapy is a big step. It's natural to want to know what to expect, whether it suits you and how it works in practice. Here you will find honest answers.
In body-oriented therapy, the work starts not from your thoughts, but from your body. Patterns, traumas and unprocessed emotions are stored in your muscles, your breathing and your nervous system - not in your head. By working directly with those, you achieve deeper and more lasting change than by talking alone.
Specifically, we work with body sensations, breathing, movement and presence. I combine different methods - inner child work, trauma healing, family constellations and Integral Somatic Psychotherapy - tailored to what you need.
Conversational therapy works through the mind: you understand why you do what you do. That's valuable - but understanding alone rarely changes the pattern. You can know for years that you are pushing yourself away, and still keep doing it.
Body-centered therapy goes a step further. We work with the place where patterns really live: in the body. As a result, we reach layers that are more difficult to access with words - and the change that occurs can also be felt physically.
Absolutely. Body-oriented therapy is not just for people with severe trauma histories. Many people come because they keep pushing themselves away, have trouble setting boundaries, get easily overstimulated, or simply feel like they are not really themselves - for no apparent "reason.
Such patterns often arise from small, cumulative experiences in childhood: moments when you learned that you had to adapt to fit in, or that it was better to swallow feelings. These are also traumas - quieter, but no less deep.
If you find that talking doesn't help enough, or that you keep understanding why you're doing something but can't change it - then body-oriented therapy is just what you're looking for.
No, you don't have to. That's just the beauty of this approach. We work with what is alive in your body right now - tension, breathing, sensations - and not with a detailed account of everything that has ever happened.
You always decide how much to share. Sometimes it is useful to briefly outline a situation. But diving extensively into it again is rarely necessary, and sometimes even counterproductive. The body knows the way - we follow that, at your pace.
Yes. The methods I use are based on scientific research on the nervous system, trauma processing and somatic psychology. Stephen Porges' polyvagal theory shows how the autonomic nervous system responds to safety and danger - and how body-oriented interventions directly affect this system.
Methods such as Somatic Experiencing, Primal Rebirth Therapy and Integral Somatic Psychotherapy have each been developed by clinically trained researchers and therapists, and are used worldwide in trauma and psychotherapeutic contexts.

Body-oriented therapy is powerful, but not for everyone and not in all phases. Some situations where consultation or referral is appropriate:
When in doubt, we always discuss this in the free introductory consultation. I am also happy to work with other caregivers if that supports you best.
Before the first paid session, there is always a free consultation of 20 minutes - by phone or online. In it, you briefly tell us what's on your mind, ask all your questions and together we'll see if it fits.
The first real session is deliberately leisurely in pace. We land first - how are you here? What is alive? I listen, ask questions and gently begin to explore what your body is telling you. There is no pressure to "go deep" right away. Safety and trust come first.
An individual session lasts 60 minutes. We take the time needed - no more, no less. I deliberately don't schedule sessions too close together, so that you have space to integrate what has been noticed.
You have nothing to do, nothing to prepare and nothing to perform. You're just there - that's enough.
During a session, rest and movement alternate. Sometimes we talk. Sometimes we sit and reflect on what's going on in your body. Sometimes there is an exercise or movement. Sometimes there is emotion - and that is allowed to be there. Everything goes at your pace, and you are always in control of what you do or don't do.
Tuur does not work touching unless you give explicit permission and it is therapeutically relevant.
It depends on what you are looking for. As a guideline:
We will discuss this together and adjust it as your situation changes.
This is honestly hard to predict - and any honest answer will admit as much. Some people feel a real shift after only three sessions. Deeper patterns or long-term traumas require more time.
What I can say: I never work longer than necessary. My goal is not that you become dependent on therapy, but that you can rely more and more on yourself. When that happens, we stop - or scale down.
That can happen, and it's normal. When something is released in a session, your system needs time to process it. Sometimes you may feel tired, more emotional or just different a day or two after a session.
I end each session with plenty of integration time so that you are on solid ground when you leave. And if you notice anything that concerns you afterwards, you are always welcome to send me a message. I can be reached via WhatsApp at +32 486 23 55 53.
The practice Puur na Tuur is located in Racour, a quiet village in Wallonia (Rue de Linsmeau 8, B-4287 Racour). The space is quiet, warm and equipped for body-oriented sessions.
Sessions are also possible online, via video call. Much of the body-oriented work is also doable remotely - you just need a quiet place and some privacy.
Yes, and it works surprisingly well. Body-oriented therapy is very well done via video call - the contact is there, the body is there, and the techniques work just as powerfully.
For some forms of deeper work - such as constellations with floor anchors or more intensely present body work - a meeting in practice is sometimes desirable. But we discuss that together, and there is always a customized solution.
I like to discuss rates in person so that I can also fully understand what you are looking for and what formula best suits you.
What I can say: I work with a fair price that reflects the investment - both mine and yours. For limited income, customized arrangements are negotiable. Please feel free to contact me at tuur@puur-na-tuur.be or +32 486 23 55 53.
The introductory interview is always free and without obligation.
Part of the sessions can be reimbursed through some mutualities as additional insurance or through the "psychological consultation" system. This varies from mutual insurance company to mutual insurance company.
I recommend you check with your health insurance company directly. I can provide you with a certificate if needed. Tuur is a member of the Belgian Federation of Psychotherapists (BFP-FBPT).
Complete confidentiality. I work under the professional secrecy and deontological code of the Belgian Federation of Psychotherapists. What you share in the sessions remains between us - without exceptions, unless there would be an acute security risk.

Always start with a free 20-minute introductory consultation - That way we can see if it clicks together before you book a full session.
Individual sessions are one-on-one counseling, completely tailored to your personal themes. You set the pace and direction. Ideal if you want to address a specific issue, or if you prefer to work in a safe, familiar space.
The year-long training Your True Nature is a year-long intensive group program, specifically focused on patterns such as pleasing, fixing, putting yourself away or keeping yourself strong. You work with a small group of people who are walking the same path - that gives a special depth and recognition. The training combines group work, body work and systemic work.
Some people do both: they attend the training AND have individual sessions in between for some more personal space.
Family constellations reveal how your family system - the patterns, loyalties and unprocessed pain of previous generations - is working through in your life today. It is a powerful method that can provide insights that are difficult to reach with words.
Choose a setup if you:
Constellations are possible individually (with floor anchors) or in groups. You can also participate as a representative in someone else's constellation - that in itself is a rich experience.
Yes. Relationship work is possible - both for couples stuck in repetitive conflict, and for people who want more connection and authenticity in their relationship. The body-centered approach is particularly powerful in relationship therapy as well, because many relationship patterns are related to how we respond physically to the other person.
Contact us to discuss whether couple work is the best option for you and your partner at this time.
Yes. Tuur also coaches entrepreneurs and organizations - individually or as a team. Entrepreneurs carry their personal patterns with them in their work: please behavior, control issues, difficulty delegating, or keeping going until it's too late.
The Business Flow Pathway combines body-oriented therapy with practical guidance, so that business and personal growth go hand in hand. Contact us for a customized trajectory.
The Gay Soul is a group program for men who are (among other things) attracted to men, and who want to experience connection with themselves and other men in a pure, free and conscious way.
It is not about coming-out or sexuality as such, but about real contact - with yourself, your body and other men, beyond the mask. Participants describe it as one of the most meaningful experiences they ever had in a group.
There are weekend editions as well as an in-depth workshop. Find more info at pure-after-hours.be/the-gay-soul.
Yes. Tuur is body-oriented supervisor, certified through the Aumm Institute - and the first in Belgium. He offers supervision to therapists and coaches who work from a body-oriented or integral vision and want to deepen their practice.
Supervision is available individually or in small groups. Please contact us to discuss the possibilities.
Sure. The annual training Your True Nature is open to everyone - including therapists, coaches and social workers who want to work on their own patterns. Personal growth and professional growth reinforce each other, and the course provides a particularly rich context for this.

Yes, and he is happy to do so. If a client is also in treatment with a psychiatrist, family physician, physiotherapist or other counselor, Tuur coordinates where relevant and with the client's consent. An integrated approach works best.
Referral also works in the other direction: if, as a therapist, you have a client for whom body-oriented therapy would be useful, you can contact them.
Yes. Tuur teaches at the Aumm Institute (Netherlands/Belgium), where he teaches family constellations and systemic work - together with colleague Jan Yoko. The Aumm Institute is an accredited training for body-oriented psychotherapists.

Just ask. No question is too small, too weird or too personal. I'm happy to answer them - and honestly.
